1. What is Trackitback?
Trackitback is
a Loss Protection and Recovery System that helps return
lost valuable items to their rightful owner. With the
use of our uniquely coded ID labels, our proprietary
database and our recovery service, when someone finds
and reports your misplaced valuable, our Recovery Service
Team goes into action to return it to you.

2. Why is this service necessary?
Most items are lost, not stolen, so loss protection
is actually more important than theft protection. Plus,
people carry more items with more value than ever before,
from traditional keys and wallets to mobile phones, laptops
and digital cameras. With electronic devices especially,
individuals regularly carry priceless personal or corporate
information that they either cannot afford to lose or
would waste valuable time in replacing. Finally, it endangers
your privacy and even your security to mark your items
using personal information.
Our service provides lifetime protection for every registered
item and peace of mind for each client.

3. What items might require Trackitback ID labels?
Just think of the most valuable items that you own,
both in terms of their cost and their importance to you.
And remember: the more portable the item, the more easily
it gets misplaced.
Check out “What Do
You Have To Lose?” for other items that require
Trackitback protection.

5. What happens when I lose something?
When you lose an item, you should notify Trackitback
either through the Trackitback website or our free phone
number (24/7). Either way, you will be able to notify
us of any special
instructions.
When your item is found, we will contact you immediately
and make arrangements for its safe return.

6. How does Trackitback know
what items are mine?
When you register with Trackitback, you receive uniquely
coded ID labels. No two ID labels are alike. Our recovery
system matches the number on each ID label to the owner
of an item.

7. Why don’t I just write my name on my valuable
items?
It’s a good idea never to identify property using
personal data, because that same information can be used
against you. A name on a set of keys gives potential
thieves everything they need to enter your home. Or when
you go on a business trip or holiday, anyone who spots
your luggage tags can guess that you will be leaving
your home unattended – and now knows exactly where
you live.
Police warn the parents of small children never to dress
them in clothes that identify their names. Adults should
pay attention to this kind of advice, yet still have
a method to recover their property when lost.

8. What does it cost to get my lost items back?
Nothing! Trackitback
charges no recovery fee. As of October 15, 2004, Trackitback
also covers all standard shipping costs associated
with the return of a registered item. Trackitback clients
are only responsible for any optional cash reward they
may have issued when registering their item and for
any specially expedited returns.

9. How does Trackitback protect
my privacy?
Trackitback helps return lost valuables without disclosing
personal information concerning either the finder or
the owner. All recoveries are completed through our system,
which enables both parties to remain anonymous.
The integrity and security of your information is of
the utmost importance to Trackitback. Our database is
backed up daily and maintained using a secured socket
layers (SSL) server. All credit card payments are done
through our secure server via GeoTrust. For more information
on our security and privacy measures, go to our Policies page.

10. How does Trackitback help
deter theft?
Having a Trackitback ID
label on your personal item helps deter theft by letting
criminals know that your item is registered and protected. Statistics
prove that items without any form of personal identification
are more likely to be stolen than those with some form
of identification.

11. How does Trackitback help
retrieve stolen items?
According to police, labels on only 1% of all property
they retrieve that bears identification show signs of
being defaced. Yet the majority of these items never
find their way back to the rightful owner because when
law enforcement agencies do recover the stolen items,
they have no idea who they belong to. Trackitback ID labels
help law enforcement agencies identify the owner of the
stolen items and get them returned.

12. Why would someone help return my valuable item?
Research shows
that most finders of lost items do want to return them
to their rightful owner. However, they usually have
no way to return lost items because they have no idea
who it belongs to. In fact, many people in the service
industry – front desk clerks who want to ensure
you keep using their hotel during business or holiday
travel, for instance – are highly motivated to
help out. As an added incentive, every finder who helps
return a registered item receives a reward.

13. How is the finder of a lost item rewarded?
Upon confirmation that the lost item has been returned
to its rightful owner, every finder is presented with
a Trackitback gift pack (a £10 value) as well as
a letter of thanks on behalf of the owner. Additionally,
our system
provides clients with the option of offering an extra
cash reward for any or all of their registered valuables.
Clients set their own amount, and this reward is strictly
optional.

14. What are finders expected to do with the item?
Finders simply have to phone the free phone number or
visit our website to report the loss and Trackitback
takes care of the item’s recovery from there. Finders
are not expected to pack anything or deliver anything.
They can choose to leave the item in a designated safe
location or hold onto it, and a designated Trackitback
agent will pick the item up from there.
