PRIVACY
AND SECURITY POLICY
General
Statement Of Policy
Trackitback
considers the privacy and security of our customers and
their personal information to be of the utmost importance,
as both concerns are integral to the product and service
we offer.
Our
general goal is to ensure that our company's privacy
standards meet or exceed the guiding principles established
by government legislation. In purchasing our product
and registering their valuables, our clients have imparted
their trust in us. Accordingly, we have taken every security
precaution necessary to assure that this trust has been
and continues to be earned. As the company continues
to evolve, any decisions regarding changes in policy,
adoptions of technology and alterations in our service,
etc., will be done in part with the goal of maintaining
and improving upon current levels of privacy and security.
Our
Policy
- Trackitback protects each customer's personal information
and adheres to all legislative requirements with respect
to protecting privacy.
- We do not rent, sell or trade information about our
customers, nor will we do so in the future.
-
We
will not collect, use or disclose a customer's personal
information without their consent, express or implied,
except as required or permitted by law. (See information
on legal disclosure, below.)
-
We
will identify the purposes for which a client's information
is collected, used and disclosed either before or
at the time that it is being collected, used or disclosed.
-
We
will use or disclose a client's personal information
only for the purpose for which it was collected,
namely to facilitate the safe return of that client's
lost valuable item and, more generally, to administer
our protection and recovery system.
-
The
above five statements hold equally true for individuals
and businesses, who may or may not be Trackitback
customers, who report a found item.
-
Information
collected from clients - but not finders - may also
be used to advise our clientele about new products,
contests and promotions, or to conduct surveys in
order to help us to determine how best to improve
our services. Clients will be given the choice of
opting not to receive such information or information
requests.
-
We
will make every reasonable effort to honour any requests
from clients to have their personal information completely
removed from our database, should they desire to
discontinue any and all association with Trackitback
.
-
We
will answer any of our customers' questions about
the management of their personal information, or
about our privacy policy in general, in clear language
and as expediently as possible, upon their request.
-
We
will make every effort to screen and monitor any
and all third-party service providers to ensure the
privacy standards and security measures outlined
in this document are equally maintained by those
companies and their individual agents.
To
accommodate unforeseeable changes in technology, in legislation
and in our own service, the specifics of this Policy
are subject to change over time. Should we update this
policy in the future, we will change the date on the
policy to indicate that changes have been made.
SECURITY
The security of our clients' information is a top priority
for Trackitback and we endeavor to maintain appropriate
safeguards to assure its continued safety. Although we
cannot take responsibility for any theft, misuse or unauthorized
disclosure, loss, alteration or destruction of data by
a third party, we take reasonable precautions to prevent
such occurrences.
Website
All
consumer transactions and purchases on our website are
secured using a Digital Certificate. This ensures that
all transactions and purchases Trackitback clients
send to us via the World Wide Web will be encrypted.
Certificate technology allows us to decrypt the information
and view it in plain text form. If any other Internet
user intercepts the communication, he or she will only
be able to see it in an encrypted form. For more information
on SSL Digital Certificates for web servers, please see
http://www.verisign.com/ or http://www.thawte.com
Database
Access
Our
registration database is a restricted access zone, strictly
limited only to individuals who have fulfilled internal
security checks.
Recovery
Service Centre
Our
staff has limited access to the Trackitback protection
database. These agents can only access a customer's registration
area through that customer's express and/or implied consent
(normally in the form of their username and password
information). Once a transaction is completed, access
to a client's personal information is once again locked.
PRIVACY
Trackitback
Data Collection
Trackitback's
central data bank is a secure database that interfaces
with our website. Almost all private customer information
is entered by our clients themselves, or call center
agents who do so on their behalf. Consequently, the majority
of information collected by Trackitback has been provided
voluntarily. However, we do collect information from
casual visitors to our website.
Website
Traffic Data
Trackitback
collects information to improve the overall quality of
our website. Each time a person visits this site, Trackitback
records the visitor's domain name, IP address, referral
data and browser/platform type (e.g. a Netscape browser
on a Macintosh platform). Trackitback also counts, tracks
and aggregates information about the visitor's activity
into our analysis of general traffic flows at the Trackitback
website (e.g. tracking where traffic comes from and how
it flows within the site). Trackitback may merge this
information into group data, which may then be shared
on an aggregate basis with potential advertisers, research
firms and business partners. However, Trackitback will
not disclose your individual identity or personal data.
If and when Trackitback does present aggregated information
to potential advertisers, research firms and business
partners, none of these agents will be able to identify
you or contact you.
Email
No
email addresses employed in correspondence with Trackitback
will be used or collected for the purposes of reselling
to a third party, nor will they be added to a bulk e-mailing
list.
Cookies
This
website uses "cookies," a technology that installs a
small, unique identifier text file on a website user's
computer to permit the website to recognize future visits
using that computer. The purpose of the cookie is to
identify you when you visit the site so we can enhance
and customize your use of the website. You can configure
your browser to reject all cookies or notify you when
a cookie is set. Although you may choose to decline cookies,
doing so may affect your use of the website and your
ability to access certain features of the website or
engage in transactions through the website.
Trackitback
Customers
Because
Trackitback offers lifetime protection of all registered
valuables, we keep any information provided by customers
on our database on a long-term basis, or until such time
as it may be removed at the initiation of our clients.
Accuracy
It
is our clients' responsibility to check their personal
accounts in order to verify, update or correct any information
about their valuables, as is appropriate, as well as
any relevant personal information. Trackitback generally
stores only such information as has been volunteered
by our clients during the registration process.
Other
Information
Trackitback
does not collect any information, such as email addresses,
credit card numbers, temporary addresses or travel destinations,
that may be made available to the company or its agents
during inquiries into or the purchase of our product,
or during the course of an item's recovery due to loss.
Customer
Verification
Trackitback
customers can ask to review any of the information that
we have retained, how we have used it and to whom we
have disclosed it by contacting us at privacy@trackitback.com .
Subject to certain exceptions set out by law, and provided
Trackitback can authenticate your identity, you will
be given reasonable access to your personal information
and will be entitled to challenge its accuracy and completeness
and to have it corrected as appropriate. You can also
ask us to change your preferences regarding how we use
or disclose your information.
Removing
Information
Should
a Trackitback customer desire to discontinue any and
all association with our company, the customer can request
not to receive any further communication from us. Furthermore,
the customer can request that we remove all of his or
her personal information from our records at Trackitback
. Subject to any internal or legal requirements for the
temporary or continued retention of information, we will
make every reasonable effort to honor that request.
Legal
Disclosure
Trackitback
may disclose your personal information as required or
permitted by law. We may disclose information in the
following circumstances to the following bodies:
- A
government institution or other person or entity that
has asserted its lawful authority to obtain the information.
Trackitback will make every effort to ensure that only
information specifically itemized in the request is
provided;
- A
court, person or entity producing a subpoena or court
order requiring Trackitback to provide the information.
Trackitback will make every effort to ensure that only
information specifically itemized in the request is
provided;
- An
appropriate legal agent, where Trackitback has reasonable
grounds to believe the information could be useful
in the investigation of unlawful activity; and/or
- Trackitback's
legal counsel.
Third-Party
Service Providers
Trackitback
may share your personal information with certain service
providers in order to make a product sale and provide
our protection services to you. To reduce the risk of
fraud or misuse of personal information, Trackitback
and its designated agents may verify your personal information,
including but not limited to your address and credit
card information, with third party service providers.
We
will make reasonable efforts to ensure that your personal
information is used in a manner consistent with Trackitback's
privacy policy. If you do not wish to provide your personal
information to service providers, we may be unable to
process your transaction.
Retailers
Trackitback
makes its product available to consumers through a variety
of third-party resellers. Some of these resellers may
collect personal information over the course of a regular
retail transaction, including the purchase of a Trackitback
product. Trackitback cannot guarantee the privacy or
security protection of any such information and disclaims
any responsibility to do so.
Finders
Trackitback
helps return lost valuables without disclosing personal
information concerning either the finder or the owner
to the opposite party involved. All recoveries are completed
through our system and recovery services personnel, and
it is our strict policy that both parties remain anonymous
to one another. While a Trackitback client may, understandably,
want to thank a finder personally, such a request will
not be accommodated. Instead, we provide a letter of
thanks, in addition to a reward, to finders whenever
they are willing to provide enough personal information
to allow us to do so. The same goes for any party or
business with whom the lost item has been left by the
original finder for courier pickup.
Couriers
Information
provided to couriers or other individuals or companies
charged with transporting found items is restricted to
a standard mailing address, either for the Trackitback
customer's home or another designated address. Normally,
these agents will also be aware of the identity of the
retrieved article, since they will be required to place
the item in standard company packaging.
A
Final Word
Trackitback
reserves the right to change, add, modify or remove portions
of this policy. These modifications will be effective
immediately upon posting on the Trackitback site, so
please check our privacy and security policy periodically
for changes. Rest assured, however, that all changes
will be made with the principal goal of increasing our
level of privacy and security protection.
